In preparation for your upcoming move, we’ve compiled some self-packing guidelines to ensure your relocation goes as smoothly as possible, and stays within the estimated price.
With the exception of miscellaneous items like ironing boards, vacuum cleaners, and yard tools, all loose items that are not a piece of furniture or appliance should be in a box or container and ready for transport. We recommend that you mark a room/area description on the sides of the boxes and containers to ensure they are placed in the correct room or area at the destination.
Lamps and lampshades are required to be in a sealed box or container. The average table lamp (shade and harp removed) will fit horizontally in a 4.5 cubic foot (large) box.
The average lampshade will fit vertically in a 3.0 cubic foot (medium) box.
When packing larger-sized table lamps or shades, sometimes it is necessary to combine two boxes.
We provide specialty boxes for tall pole lamp bases; just let us know the height and quantity.
While in transport, it is very common for furniture to be tilted on it’s side. We require that all contents inside furniture drawers be emptied prior to handling, this ensures that nothing inside the drawers gets damaged or lost. This also reduces the weight of the furniture, putting less stress on it during the move process.
We require hanging clothes to be in either a wardrobe box or durable bag for transport. If you’d like us to provide wardrobe boxes, just let us know.
Liquids and non-flammable chemicals should be packed in a sealed plastic container or tote. We are not permitted to transport any chemicals or gases that are flammable or combustible.
For liability reasons, we are not permitted to transport fine jewelry, precious metals, or artifacts of high-value.
